Luard Scholarship Application Information
for the 2010-2011 Academic Year

As we continue to honor the 40th Anniversary of the Luard scholarship, we are thrilled to announce the competition for the 2010-2011 academic year.

Since 1969, the English-Speaking Union has provided full junior year abroad scholarships to the United Kingdom, for academically, highly talented sophomore students attending United Negro College Fund member institutions, and Howard and Hampton Universities. The English-Speaking Union is committed to the promotion of scholarship and the advancement of knowledge through the effective use of the English language.

The Luard Scholarships, unique merit awards open to sophomore students pursuing a four-year degree in all major fields of study, provide: tuition, room, board, book allowance and travel expenses for their junior academic year at a British university. Candidates must excel academically (minimum 3.0 grade point average), and exhibit the maturity and independence necessary for study abroad.

Finalists will be notified in early December about personal interviews with the Luard Scholarship Committee in New York City in early January 2010. Travel and lodging expenses of finalists will be covered by the English-Speaking Union.

If you would like to apply, please print and complete the Luard Junior Year Abroad Scholarship Application Form from the link below. Please return the completed form to the school official responsible for Luard Scholarship Applications.
